The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation was established to focus and grow the organization’s philanthropic efforts. To-date, $4.3 million has been raised through the Foundation's annual fundraising, benefitting 48 Ottawa area charities.

Causes:

The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has served the Ottawa community since 1923, reaching out to 4,500 children and youth each year through after-school, weekend and summer programs that build self-esteem and help to develop stronger social skills.

BGCO is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

The Ottawa Senators Foundation empowers children and youth to reach their full potential by investing in social recreation and education programs that promote both physical and mental wellness. The funding from ODBF will be used for the new Sens Power Plays program. Through a proven, confidential, secure application and income verification process, grants will be provided to reduce registration and equipment fees so children and youth from within the National Capital Region can improve their access to recreational and sporting opportunities of their choice.

The OSEG Foundation operates as a stand-alone, not for profit entity. The funding from ODBF will be invested in specialized programs and camps that give more children and youth, ages 5 to 24, access to sport-based development. By breaking down the barriers that limit a child’s participation, OSEG will give more children in the community a chance to experience and benefit from the power of sports.

The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation is dedicated to fostering within our children the quest for a brighter future. A Foundation camp experience provides programs to help children from economically disadvantaged homes develop lifelong skills. For these children, opportunities and environments that promote their growth into healthy individuals are often limited. When they return home, they bring with them a positive attitude about their future, and the confidence to achieve goals they learned to set for themselves.

The Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is a free, culturally diverse community event held at Mooney’s Bay Park, Ottawa.

The Festival is a multi-day celebration of the arts, sports, culture and heritage that attracts over 75,000 visitors each year. The Festival, which now boasts 200 teams in competitive and corporate & community categories is one of the hottest entertainment events in the Nation’s Capital.
